“Mardi Gras for the mind”, that is the best! As a fellow bibliophile, I cannot heart this enough. Off I go to watch the festival at the YouTube link. These Saturday morning reading and thinking sessions are magical!
I especially like your book #2. We don’t always have to strive for similarity. Sometimes it’s better to celebrate our collective diversity. Or as someone once said to me, sometimes a fruit salad is better than a melting pot
Thanks Wayne! Couldn’t agree more. One of the other things Michele said during her talk, just to further the bridge metaphor, was that opposing force (tensile strength) of bridges is what gives them their strength in the first place. From their tension comes their power. That really helped solidify this idea in my mind.
Thanks Maddie - it’s in my pile as well! I SO loved his prior book The Second Mountain….I consider that a must read for those of us who are on to second or third seasons/phases in our lives (ahem) …especially ones where we are prioritizing meaning/impact. So that’s food for thought for your reading list too…..
I'd be a kid in a candy store at this festival! And I love the one-line takeaways.

Thanks Suzy! Hope you enjoyed watching some of the sessions!
What an incredible trip! I just bought David Brooks’ new book and can’t wait to dig in.
