Thanks Chris! This was a fun one to write and one I am deeply committed to sharing the message further....I want us to have meaning like a constellation, not like those pinpoints! Thanks.
Love this perspective—one I needed to read this morning! And the pilgrimage sounds like such a special experience...one that I’m sure will make the torture of box step-ups worthwhile. ☺️
Sue.....I am happy for you that your life has found a new purpose and you seem happy. However, you have moved away from helping those of us that are in the early stages of grief that has destroyed the life we have known and loved. Joan and I spent 4 years designing and building a beautiful home for which we could share the music we love with over 50 of our friends at a time. Now, the home seems so empty without our friends and sharing our love of music with them. And not only that, the friends that don't know what to say, shy away. And sadly, some of them have totally turned their back on me when reaching out for help. It is so, so sad.
Don, yes I agree my topics are more wide-ranging now, and it likely does not resonate as much for you. I think the ladies who write at “What’s Your Grief” might be a better fit. Or indeed other substacks that may focus on where you are in your journey. The last thing I want for you is for The Luminist to make you more sad, so please do what’s best for you! Kind regards.
Thanks Leon - great point that it’s not just the journey - but the struggle within - that also shapes us and gives us meaning on the way to our telic goals!
There are some amazing visuals in this post. "Pinpoints of accomplishment surrounded by emptiness and wonder...." I'm going to save this!
I also love learning about the atelic and the telic.

Thanks Maddie! My eyes are on the (telic!) prize! 😉
